Orange Pi 5 Camera: OV13850/OV13855 vs Raspberry Pi Cameras
Orange Pi 5 camera setups follow two paths: native OV13850/OV13855 modules or Raspberry Pi cameras used with an adapter.
Native modules vs. Raspberry Pi cameras
OV13850 / OV13855 modules plug directly into the Orange Pi 5 30-pin CSI connector. Raspberry Pi cameras use a different FPC connector and 3.3V I2C, so our adapter remaps the connector and level-shifts I2C for compatible Pi cameras.
The software caveat
The adapter is an electrical bridge; OS and kernel support still determine whether a sensor produces an image.
- Armbian now has native IMX708 support; exact sensor support depends on the image and kernel.
- Josh Riek Ubuntu remains the recommended setup-guide OS.
